BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements are set for 89 year old Marjorie Louise (Wisecup) Moffitt of Indianola, Iowa and formerly of Boone, Iowa. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the EveryStep Kavanaugh House in Des Moines.

Known as Marge to friends and family, she was born on March 28, 1932 in Worth Township in Boone County and spent her childhood on the family farm outside Luther, Iowa, where she felt happiest helping her father with chores and spending time with the family’s horses. After graduating from Luther High School, she worked at Northwestern Bell and Citizens National Bank in Boone until she married Clayton Herbert Moffitt in 1955. Two years later they welcomed their daughter Nancy into the world and in 1969 they built their dream house on an acreage in the country, where Marge enjoyed hosting many parties, caring for her Arabian show-horses, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Throughout her adulthood Marge was an active member in the Iowa Arabian Horse Association and the Arabian Horse Society of Iowa, where she served on the board, coordinated publication of the Society’s calendar and directory, and enjoyed showing her beautiful (and well-behaved) Arabians for many years. Her greatest joys were her family, her horses, and her home.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Wisecup and Mabel (Ray) Wisecup; her husband Clayton in 2013; and siblings, Lawrence (Betty) Wisecup, Ruby (Thomas) Johnson, and Alice (Harold “Gus”) Wahlgren. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Keith) Eis of Des Moines; grandchildren Erica Eis of Johnston and Austin (Dana) Eis of Newton; and great-grandson, Oaken Clayton Eis; as well as her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stan and Marlene Moffitt of Boone; and sisters-in-law, Melinda Moffitt and Ann Dunlap of Albuquerque, NM.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 A.M. until time of service. Inurnment will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to First United Methodist Church in Boone or to the EveryStep Kavanaugh House in Des Moines.

Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets is in charge of arrangements.
