On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health identified 684 new cases of COVID-19, a sharp decrease from the 1,107 positive coronavirus tests reported 24 hours earlier. Iowa has had over 92,500 cases of COVID-19 and 1,381 Iowans have died from coronavirus: ten on Saturday, including two from Polk County, and four in Sunday’s update. Since 5:00 on Friday afternoon in central Iowa, 112 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Polk County for a total of 16,470; 32 this weekend in Dallas for 2,933; 22 in Story for 3,556; seven in Webster for 1,390 there; four in Greene for 126; none in Hamilton, which holds steady at 341; and 14 in Boone County for 555 overall. Statewide, there are 392 patients currently hospitalized for coronavirus, down ten from Saturday, and greater than 71,500 Iowans have recovered, 380 in Boone County alone. For the one in four Iowans who have now been tested for COVID-19, the infection rate is up slightly, to 11.3%.
