BOONE, Iowa—“A Knight with Bobby” fundraiser for Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Athletics and Foundation was delayed until this week, but turned out to be a successful event. The former Indiana University and Texas Tech University Coach was the featured speaker. More than 320 people attended the event to listen to Knight, whose teams have appeared in five Final Fours, resulting in three National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championships, including his 1975-76 Indiana team which was the last undefeated team to win the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.

Nine-year old Cole Christeson of Boone visits with legendary former basketball coach Bobby Knight prior to getting Knight’s autograph. Christeson is the son of Chad and Amy Christeson of Boone.
Knight had a 902-371 record, won 11 Big Ten Conference Championships, was Big Ten Coach of the Year eight times, National Coach of the Year four times and coached the U.S. Olympic Team to a Gold Medal in 1984. His 902 wins were the most ever by an NCAA Division I men’s basketball coach when he retired in 2008. It is now the third highest total behind Mike Krzyzewski of Duke and Jim Boeheim of Syracuse.
