BOONE, Iowa—Martha Irene Knight, daughter of Theodore “Ted” and Irene Magdalena (Ely) Crowell was born October 5, 1941 at her home in Boone County, Iowa.  Martha died January 18, 2022 in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 80 years.

On February 15, 1959, Martha was united in marriage to Dean Knight at the Lutheran Church in Bouton, Iowa.  They were the proud parents of four daughters.  Martha proudly graduated in 1989 with a GED.  She mainly worked as a factory operator, retail, and at the Boone High School in the kitchen.

Martha loved horseback riding, horses, reading mystery books that involved food and cats, loved to go on rides and look for deer, and loved search for word books, and puzzles.  More than anything she loved spending time with her family, friends, and her dog, Lily.

Martha was preceded in death by her soul-mate Dean Knight (2005); her parents; her brother Theodore Crowell; and her son-in-law Doyle Price.  She is survived by her daughters:  Rhonda Knight of Boone, IA, Lisa Price of Boone, IA, Donna (Dan) Davis of Boone, IA, and Joyce (Jill) Knight of Richmond, MO; her sisters:  Deloris Harshbarger of Boone, IA, Mina (Randy) Bielfelt of Boone, IA, and Beth (Mike) Cleland of Ogden, IA; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her dog Lily; other relatives; and friends.

A visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th Street, Boone, IA.  Burial will take place at a later date at Boone Memorial Gardens.  Memorials are suggested to the family to be used at their discretion.  Online condolences may be left at www.schroederfuneral.com.
