·         DMACC’s Curriculum Commission Adds 30 New or Modified Programs, Certificates and Transfer Degrees.

·         All Start When Fall Term Classes Begin August 26.

·         Good Opportunity for Unemployed Iowans to Start a New Career Path.

·         Curriculum Additions Will Benefit Those Seeking Careers in Baking, Automotive Technology, Criminal Justice, Water Treatment Technology, Python Software Applications, Theatre and more.

ANKENY, Iowa—DMACC is adding a Baking diploma to its Culinary Arts curriculum on the Newton Campus and Honda PACT joins Ford ASSET, General Motors ASEP and MOPAR Chrysler as automotive technician partnerships with the two-year College. Those are just several of the 30 new diplomas, certificates, Associate of Arts or Associate of Applied Science degrees DMACC is adding to its curriculum for the fall term.

“These new initiatives will allow students to fulfill their career preparation through DMACC in both an affordable and close to home setting,” DMACC Newton Campus Mathematics Professor and Curriculum Commission Chair Dr. Rebecca DeHart said. “These new programs have something of interest for most everyone and we are excited to start offering them starting in fall of 2020.”

DeHart said the Curriculum Commission had a very busy year with more than 400 proposals considered.

She said since many people have recently lost jobs to the COVID-19 pandemic, now may be a good time to attend college.

“As many Iowans are currently unemployed, now is the best time to invest in one’s academic preparation to soon rejoin the workforce,” DeHart said.

DMACC’s President Rob Denson added, “ Even in a Pandemic we must continue to move forward with new programs and classes that best serve the needs of our communities, business and students. DMACC continues to grow and evolve. I want to thank Dr. DeHart and her commission for moving forward with these new offerings this fall.”

DMACC’s Fall Semester classes begin August 26.  For more information on the new DMACC programs, contact Dr. Steve Pankey, Director of Enrollment Services and Registrar, at (515) 964-6210.
