(WASHINGTON) — A new report shows retail had a positive start to the second half of 2015.
The latest numbers from the Commerce Department show retail sales rose by a sixth of a percent in July.
Auto dealers were up nearly 1.5 percent, while restaurants and building supply retailers saw a 0.7 percent increase.
Better hiring and lower gas prices are believed to be behind the reason consumers have been willing to spend more of their extra income.
