Utilities Remind Customers to Check Meters and Vents

Posted on 29 January 2019 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Utilities that provide natural gas service to customers in the area are encouraging those customers to make sure there is no snow or ice accumulation around meters and vents  Locally, we have not had the snowfall experienced in other parts of the upper midwest, but ice buildup is still something to check. Customers should be sure that vents, meters and air intakes for natural gas appliances are clear of snow and ice. Be careful and use a broom or your hands to remove snow around meters so you don’t damage them. This enables proper venting and furnace operation — and prevents carbon monoxide accumulation.
