Posted on 24 September 2018 by KWBG

DES MOINES, Iowa—A flu shot at Medicap Pharmacy this fall, helps feed those in need! This year Medicap is proud to partner again with the Food Bank of Iowa. “Proper nutrition is one of the keys to good health, and we work to ensure that everyone has access to the food they need,” said Danny Akright, communications manager for Food Bank of Iowa. “We’re thrilled to partner with Medicap Pharmacy on this unique campaign. The chance to help others in need while bolstering your own health is an opportunity worth taking!”

Medicap Pharmacy believes it is important to be involved in the community and this is an excellent opportunity to help others in the community. Last year, Medicap Pharmacy donated over $15,000 which provided 61,140 meals to hungry Iowans! Through the partnership with the Food Bank of Iowa, Medicap Pharmacy will donate 12 meals to the local food bank for every flu shot given at participating Medicap Pharmacy locations from September 24 through November 17, 2018.

Medicap Pharmacy is also collecting non-perishable donations that will go to the local food bank. Donations can be dropped off at the pharmacy anytime during regular business hours through November 17, 2018.

“We know the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from the flu is by being vaccinated and by getting your flu shot at Medicap, we are able to help others in need right in our own community!” says Cheri Schmit, R.Ph., Clinical Director at Medicap Pharmacy.
