As Boone County Secondary Roads Department removed the fallen piece of the Wagon Wheel bridge,  they found that the western pier was twisted from the ice impact earlier this year. Thus, that was also removed.

VFW Post 817 & Auxiliary are happy to announce that Boone High School Sophomore, Jackson Smith, won $100 for 1st Place at the local level and $350 for 2nd Place at the State of Iowa, Young American Creative Patriotic Art Scholarship competition. Jackson is the son of Jason and Christie Smith of Boone.

Hot and humid weather looks to continue through the weekend, with the hottest day expected to occur on Sunday when temperatures will rise well into the 90s.  Remember:  stay hydrated,  take frequent breaks if outside, check on the elderly and those without air conditioning, and check on pets.
