BOONE, Iowa---The Boone County Board of Supervisors have approved the second consideration to rezone property in March Township for a proposed fertilizer distribution depot. FC Cooperative has proposed the site to better serve customers. One neighbor did appear at the public hearing to voice opposition to the rezoning.

Madrid, Iowa---The Madrid City Council chose former Boone Police Officer, Rick Tasler to become their new Police Chief, replacing Tim Brown who resigned earlier this year.

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone County Hospital Board of Trustees have been asked to consider acquiring the former Preferred Pharmacy at the corner of Story and 1st Streets. Chris Cage, owner of the property and hospital administration have been in discussion, but have not agreed to terms.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - State officials say it could take up to year to repair and rebuild hundreds of miles of railroad tracks and over a dozen bridges damaged by last month's flooding. State transportation officials say Iowa's freight trains had losses that could reach top 80 million dollars.

TAMA, Iowa (AP) - The investigation continues into an accident involving a tour bus and a car near Tama that closed Highway 30 and sent nearly three dozen people to the hospital. The accident happened yesterday when the car crossed the center line and hit the oncoming bus. The Iowa State Patrol says the bus went into a ditch and landed on its side.

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) - Fire has damaged a business in Marshalltown. The fire at the five-story Handy Industries broke out last night, and it took every available truck and firefighter in the city to fight it. One firefighters was overcome by the heat.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa's three public universities are reporting increases in grants and contracts for the 2008 fiscal year. The University of Iowa generated a record $386 million in external funding. Iowa State brought in $274 million. And the University of Northern Iowa reported $36 million in funding.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Aides to Rep. Leonard Boswell say he is expected to leave the hospital tomorrow. Two weeks ago, the Democratic congressman checked in to the Washington Hospital Center to have a correction to a surgery performed in 2005 that removed a non-cancerous tumor from his abdomen.
