Dallas County Conservation Awarded DOT Trails Grant

FORT MADISON, Iowa—The Iowa Transportation Commission has approved over $1.2 million for five State Recreational Trails Program projects.  The award includes $366,000 to the Dallas County Conservation Board for the Raccoon River Valley Trail to High Trestle Trail Phase 1 construction project.  The connector project is a proposed 9 mile trail project the two trails.  The connector will be located between Woodward and Perry.  The total project is estimated to cost about $5 million.  Grants, donations and other funding sources have raised about $2 million for the project.  It’s expected that work on the connector could begin in 2018.
