Boone Police Release Report on Sunday Incident

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone HyVee Store was closed for several hours Sunday, following an early morning incident inside the store.  Boone Police have now released additional information.  Commander John Sloter released this report:

On June 18, 2017 at approximately 2:28 am., Boone Police Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of 8th Street in reference to a report of a subject actively harming himself with a knife.  When Officers arrived the subject was confronted and ordered to drop the knife.  The subject continued to actively harm himself so a less than lethal device was deployed so the subject could be safely brought under control and medical treatment given.

The subject, identified as Ronald Carle Hampton Jr., age 25 of Boone, was then taken by air ambulance to Mercy Des Moines to receive treatment for his self inflicted injuries.  The Boone Police Department was assisted by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Boone Fire Department, and the Boone County Hospital in bringing this situation under control and delivering medical aid.

At this time there are no criminal charges.
