Posted on 19 May 2017 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Water Department has released the 2017 Consumer Confidence Report which shows that no violations occurred during the 2016 calendar year.  City Engineer Wayne Schwartz, Superintendent for the Utility Department, noted that Boone Water Works continues to strive to provide clean, safe and dependable water to all customers.

Schwartz confirmed that nitrates continue to be of concern for the city, as well as many other communities.  He indicated that nitrate concentrations have increased this spring which was expected.  However, he emphasized that the nitrate levels remain below the EPA MCL of 10 mg/L.  Schwartz says water plant operators continue to diligently monitor well and only operate the wells with the lowest nitrate concentrations.

Those wishing to inspect the report may do so at the city website.  Schwartz also said that paper copies of the report are available at the City Hall Central Business Office during regular city hall hours.
