Postal Workers Seek Help to Stamp Out Hunger

Posted on 12 May 2017 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Saturday, the National Association of Letter Carriers will conduct their annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive for local food pantries.  The is the 25th year the effort has been underway national and it will mark the 20th year Boone letter carriers will be participating.  Debbi Wirtz says the first year was by far the best year for local donations.  Last year the amount was about 4,ooo pounds, taken to local food pantries IMPACT and the Salvation Army.  The food drive is a mainstay for the food pantries because donations always seem to lag at summertime as need continues to rise.  Residents should leave non-perishable food items at their mailbox Saturday.  If you’re unable to leave a donation at the mailbox, it could be dropped off at the post office.
