Authorities Investigate Wednesday Evening Accident

BOONE, Iowa—At least one-person was taken to the hospital as a result of an accident on US Highway 30 Wednesday evening.  The Boone County Communication Center received the report about 6:20 PM.  Besides the Sheriff’s Department, emergency response included the Boone Fire Department and Boone County Ambulance.  The initial report indicated at least one-person was transported to the hospital with injuries.  The accident occurred in the area of the Ericson Curve or the 1800 Block of 220th Street.  The Sheriff’s Department investigation continues.

Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Department investigated an accident that sent three-people to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.  That accident occurred about 7:30 AM, when a vehicle operated by Glen Smith pulled out of a farm drive way onto US Highway 30 near “R” Avenue.  Smith changed lanes in front of a car operated by Kaitlyn Clark of Boone.  According to the preliminary report, the Clark vehicle struck the rear of the Smith vehicle, causing Smith to go into the median.  The Clark vehicle also went into the median, crossed the west bound lanes of US Highway 30 and came to a rest in the north ditch.  Both drivers and one passenger were taken to the hospital.  That accident remains under investigation.
