At the State Individual Speech Contest Saturday at Johnston High School, Boone’s Emma Toms received a 1, the highest rating possible, from each of three judges in both of her events, Literary Program and Poetry.  It was the fourth consecutive time that Emma, a senior, competed at state and she has earned 1s every year.  Four Toreadors picked up two 1s apiece:  Brian Bingaman in Improv, Grayson Boggess in Solo Musical Theatre, Alaney Parker in Solo Acting, and Spencer Toms in Radio Broadcasting.  Brian also received one 1 in Spontaneous Speaking and Alaney earned a 1 in Solo Musical Theatre.  The Boone High Speech Team will learn on Monday afternoon if anyone was nominated to perform at All-State March 27 at U.N.I.
