BOONE, Iowa—Boone Parks personnel were working a getting the John Hansen Memorial Skate Rink in Gutterridge Park re-opened for the weekend. A week ago, snow and mild weather turned the rink into slush and it never got cold enough to develop good ice and the rink was closed. Since then, conditions improved and the rink has again frozen up. Wednesday, parks personnel were putting a coating of water over the ice which is expected to be usable Thursday and into the weekend. The warming house area is expected to open regular hours, Thursday into the weekend.
The John Hansen Memorial Skate Rink is located in Gutterridge Park in Boone, on Park Avenue.
