4-H Youth Night Draws Big Crowd

OGDEN, Iowa—The Boone County 4-H Youth Council enjoyed planning and carrying out this year’s 4-H Fun Night on Friday, March 4 at the Ogden Middle School. 84 4th-7th graders enjoyed playing dodgeball, basketball, board games, card games, minute to win it games, pizza, and an ice cream sundae bar. 15 County Council members were present to lead activities and share 4-H opportunities with those in attendance. 4-H Youth Committee members, Ed Keenan and Zach Britton, were also present as adult chaperones.

The County 4-H Youth Council is made up of 4-H teens from throughout Boone County.  They seek to plan and implement multiple fun and educational activities for younger members including the annual 4-H Fun Night, a Halloween Party, and Ag Olympix at the County Fair. This year’s members are Dalaney Bice, Josie Noland and Katie Noland of Woodward; Madeleine & Natalie Bretey, Amanda Brown, Erica Mehlhaus, Landra Reece, Amelia Verkade, Braeden Weyhrich and Makenzie Weyhrich of Boone; Josie Consier, McKayla Dozier, Karolyn Peterson and Colton Zalesak of Ogden; Cassey Davisson and Sierra Miller of Boxholm; Megan Osborn of Ames; Madelyn Ostendorf of Madrid; Hannah Sackett of Perry; Aaliyah, Bryce, Vanessa & Ebony Scott and Claire Whalen of Pilot Mound. Advisors for the group are Lauren Haglund, Natalie Hedlund, and Lori Weyhrich of Boone.
