BOONE, Iowa—Emily McColloch, Boone Area Chamber of Commerce Events Coordinator appeared on the KWBG News/Public Affairs Program “Tuned In” last week and noted that the 2014 Pufferbilly Days™ was only three months away. Since then, the new logo and theme have been released and before long memorabilia will be appearing.
With the 2014 Pufferbilly Days™ only twelve weeks away, September 4th through the 7th, and a full line-up of activities and entertainment has just been released.
The 38th annual community celebration will begin Thursday, September 4th featuring a classic car show, amusement rides, and live bands. The downtown entertainment center will be alive Thursday night with Pufferbilly™ Unplugged featuring Hawk McIntyre from 7-8:30 p.m. and Vinyl Vegabonds from 8:30-10pm.
Friday night, Burnin’ Sensations is sure to pack ‘em in again with non-stop music from the 70’s on up to the present from 7:30 to 11:30pm.
Along with the annual Pufferbilly™ parade and 5k/10krun, and huge craft show, Toaster will rock Saturday night’s live entertainment playing your favorite classic songs. Smith’s Amusement carnival rides will once again provide great fun for the kids Thursday through Saturday.
Other events include a Mud Volleyball tournament, BBQ contest, Lil Miss and Mr. Pufferbilly™ competition, Motorcycle Contest, Horseshoe Tournament, Softball tournaments, and new for 2014…Family Fun Day activities on Sunday and the first ever Pufferbilly™ Bike Ride. Individuals and Teams are encouraged to sign up as early as possible to earn a spot in these activities.
Pufferbilly Days™ is an annual celebration of Boone, Iowa’s railroad heritage.
