BOONE, Iowa—Habitat for Humanity of Boone and Greene Counties celebrated their partnership with their 23rd family Sunday, breaking ground for their next new home. Ground breaking was held at the site of the new home for Josh and Elly Majors and their four children Hadlee, Blayne, Izzy and Reese. The home will be built at 910 20th Street on the north side of Boone. Harry Ahrenholtz is President of the Habitat Board of Directors and said they are looking forward to the project and looking forward to continuing their “Helping Hands” program which focuses on projects for existing homes.
The Majors family was selected to be the owners of the new home. The home, like the last one built in Ogden will use the Energy Panel Structures system. The panels are constructed in Graettinger, Iowa and offer Energy Star 3.0 efficiency standards. EPS dealer crews from across the Midwest will volunteer their time to assemble the home package over two-days in mid-April.
Bob Dennis of Boone will be lead his first Habitat house build as Project Manager.
