OGDEN, Iowa—Former Ogden Mayor and Councilmember and current Chairman of the Boone County Conservation Commission has decided to withdraw his name from consideration in the Iowa House District 47 Democratic Primary in June.  Late last week, Mark Trueblood announced his candidacy in a press release.  Late Saturday, Trueblood withdrew his candidacy in a brief e-mail to news media.

“Good evening to all. After much thought tonight, for personal reasons, I am withdrawing my name as a candidate for the Democratic June primary for the District 47 House of Representatives seat. I feel this is the right thing to do. I urge everyone to vote for Hans Erickson in his run for this seat. Thanks for your time. ”

Trueblood had filed papers for the race on March 14th, a few days after Hans Erickson of Boone has submitted his paperwork.  The winner of the Democratic Primary will face Republican incumbent Representative Chip Baltimore in the November General Election.  Baltimore is unopposed in the Republican Primary.
