BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Supervisor Chet Hollingshead has been appointed to the Governors Commission for Mental Health and Disability Services. The announcement of the Gubernatorial appointments was made earlier this week.
In May, Hollingshead will join the 18 member commission. The Iowa Mental Health and Disability Services Commission is the state policy making body for the provision of services for those dealing with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or other development disabilities.
Supervisor Tom Foster is the Boone County Board’s representative on the new Central Iowa Community Services mental health region. He says the appointment of Hollingshead will give the Commission a direct understanding of the challenges facing counties as they try to provide services to clients.
Hollingshead says he looks forward to serving on the Commission and continuing to work at improving mental health services across the state and in our new mental health region.
Gubernatorial appointments require Senate confirmation.
