Supervisors Delay Action on Road Vacation

Posted on 28 February 2014 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Board of Supervisors this week delayed, at least until next week, a resolution that would have officially vacated the “Y” Camp road, 166th Drive, effective April 1st.  The delay was to allow County Attorney Dan Kolacia a chance to review the action.  There was apparently a concern about including stipulations sought by the Supervisors to the actual resolution of vacation.

Last summer, following a public hearing and input from residents, the Supervisors decided to move ahead with the vacation of that segment of the county road that passed through the “Y” Camp.  However, they stipulated that certain issues be met, including a working arrangement between the “Y” Camp and the Army Corps of Engineers for access to their property on the Des Moines River.

The Supervisors only tabled action and are expected to give consideration to the resolution next week.
