STANHOPE, Iowa—The boil order issued for the City of Stanhope was finally lifted Wednesday afternoon. The order was issued last Friday after a water main break in Stanhope that led to a loss of pressure. The loss of pressure signals that contaminates could have entered the system, so a boil order is issued after repairs are made. The boil order is not lifted until two separate water samples indicate the system is clear of bacteria. The same procedure is being used for all communities that have water main breaks and repairs the lead to a loss of pressure. One of the more notable ones in the area is Minburn which has been under a boil order three times already.
