BOONE, Iowa—Boone Police have multiple charges filed against an 18-year old from Boone following an incident in the school district last week. Commander John Sloter with the Boone Police Department said the district received a e-mail last Thursday morning warning that there was a bomb in one of three school district buildings. Last week, District Administration reported that the threat was not deemed to be credible and Sloter’s press release also confirmed that feeling. As a precaution, the High School was locked down and searched and searches were conducted in all other district facilities. The search involved district personnel and members of the Boone Police Department. Again, nothing was located.
Sloter reports that the following day, the department collected additional information and did secure two search warrants, one for 230 13th Street in Boone and the second for 1855 Sage Avenue near Madrid. Boone Police Officers conducted the search in Boone and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department conducted the search at the rural Boone County address. Sloter says both warrants were served in cooperation with the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
Sloter says based on the investigation and evidence, 18-year old Eduard Nickolas Lester of Boone has been charged with Threat of Terrorism a Class “D” Felony, Manufacturing Marijuana a Class “D” Felony, Failure to affix a Tax Stamp a Class “D” Felony and Unlawful Possession of Prescription Pills a Serious Misdemeanor. Sloter reports that Lester was taken to the Boone County Jail. Class “D” Felonies are punishable by up to 5-years in prison and or fines of $750 to $7,500. As always, the arrest is not an indication of guilt, only that charges have been filed.
