BOONE, Iowa—The Boone School District today reported that a school district employee received a threat that did lead to the lock down and search of Boone High School and searches of all other district buildings. In a statement from District Administration, the threat that was received was deemed not credible. The information did lead the district taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of both students and staff members. The High School initiated a lock-down of the building in order to quickly and efficiently search and secure the buildings and grounds. Staff members in all other buildings throughout the district also conducted precautionary searches. According to the School District’s release, nothing was found during the searches that would have supported the threat. The district cooperated with the Boone Police Department through the whole process and all parties are in agreement that there was no credibility to the threat that was received.
