BOONE, Iowa—State Senator Jerry Behn is passing along a final reminder that certain commercial, industrial and railroad properties may be eligible for property tax credits approved by the legislature last year.  More importantly, the deadline to apply for those credits is Wednesday, January 15th.  The property tax credit is not available for residential or agricultural property.

There are a number of ways to access the Business Property Tax Credit Application Form, but the easiest for eligible Boone County property owners would be through the Boone County website.  Assessor Paul Overton has placed a link on the home page to help those wishing to apply.  Once again, the deadline to apply for the credit on 2013 property tax assessments is Wednesday, January 15th and Boone County applications need to be submitted to the County Assessor’s office.  Once again, eligible commercial, industrial and some railroad property owners may apply by going to this site.
