Boone High Students Relocated

BOONE, Iowa—Boone High School students have been relocated to the new addition, and will begin classes there Friday.  Everything that was expected to be moved to the new classroom addition was scheduled to be done over the holiday break.  Students are expected to enter the building through the new entry way and will be working with second semester schedules and finding class rooms in the afternoon.

Superintendent Brad Manard says work on asbestos removal is expected to begin in the older, vacated portions of the high school.  He says asbestos abatement is expected to take upto six weeks.  There is a planned open house for the older additions prior to demolition, that is current planned for January 11th and will include the sale of items the district will not be using in the new facility.  Demolition is tentatively slated to begin as early as mid-March.  Manard says that logistically the district does face a number of challenges, but it’s also an exciting time with changes underway.
