SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Carolina sacked Colin Kaepernick (KAP’-ur-nihk) six times and intercepted him once on the way to a 10-9 win over San Francisco. The Panthers held the 49ers to just 151 yards total offense in winning their fifth straight to improve to 6-3.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Maurice Jones-Drew and Jordan Todman each ran for a touchdown to help Jacksonville top Tennessee 29-27 for the Jaguars first win of the NFL season. The Titans also lost quarterback Jack Locker to a right foot injury and he was on crutches after the game.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Kevin Love had 18 of his 25 points during Minnesota’s 47-point first quarter and the Timberwovles went on to beat the Lakers 113-90 to snap a 22-game losing streak Los Angeles. The Timberwolves built a 28-point lead during the highest-scoring quarter in franchise history on the way to sending the Lakers to their fifth loss in seven games.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Jaromir Jagr (YAR’-oh-meer YAH’-ger) scored 90 seconds into the game for his 1,700th career point in New Jersey’s 5-0 win over Nashville. Jagr is the eighth player in NHL history to reach the milestone. Martin Brodeur (mar-TAN’ broh-DYOOR’) needed just 15 saves to record the 123rd shutout of his career.
