AMES, Iowa—Ames Police have identified the teenager involved in Monday’s fatal shooting at Iowa State University. 19 year old Tyler Comstock was reportedly driving a truck that had been reported stolen by his father. The chase actually began about 10:15 AM when the truck was spotted. Ames Police officers pursued the truck through Ames and on to the Iowa State University Campus. During the pursuit, the truck and patrol cars rammed each other several times. Comstock drove into a grassy area near the Campanile and was pinned against trees by patrol cars. When he refused orders to shut the truck off and get out, Ames Police Officer Adam McPherson fired six shots into the truck, striking Comstock. Comstock was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. McPherson, an 8 year veteran of the Ames Police Department is currently on paid leave while the shooting is being investigated.
