BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Area Humane Society had planned to hold a open house Sunday, November 3rd at the shelter on West 16th Street, but Board member Kio Dettman tells KWBG that the event will be postponed until sometime in the spring. Dettman is on the KWBG “Tuned In” program for the Humane Society and said the open house was still planned until this past week. He said there were no problems with the shelter or with the operation, just that they felt they could present a better event in the spring. The Open House was historically held after the Humane Society Annual meeting which was held on October 8th. No date has been set for the open house at this time.
