Building Preservation

Posted on 28 October 2013 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council has insisted that steps be taken to help preserve the wall on the building at 807 Story Street in Boone.  Pickers Paradise is now located in the building that was once owned by Evangelical Free Church of America Central District.  The southern exposed wall was a shared wall that was left following the demolition of properties at 801, 803 and 805 Story Street, site of a downtown fire in February 2009.  Tom Inman had owned the building at 805 Story Street and paid for work to preserve portions of the wall that are underground.  The church then sold their property.  Work to preserve the wall is now being addressed with replacement of the cap stone.  The project was not eligible for Boone Downtown Incentive Funds.

Work is underway to make repairs to the south wall of Pickers Paradise in downtown Boone.
