BOONE, Iowa—The Cole School Preservation Project will celebrate progress and raise more dollars to continue work on the brick school house located northeast of Boone.  Barb MacDougall says everyone is welcome to join in the fun, Saturday afternoon, October 19th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.  MacDougall says games are planned and there will be a number of craft items for sale.  There will also be “old time” photos, homemade preserves and antique books.  Organizers still have bricks from the Lowell and Bryant Schools and patriotic prints of the Cole School available for sale.

MacDougall says they have made a lot of progress on the preservation project since they first started several years ago.  They are now working on their final push to raise funds to complete the project.  The Cole School is located northeast of Boone at 843 “R” Avenue, just two miles north of 190th Street or County Road E-26.  The DeShon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has been leading the effort to preserve the building.  MacDougall says people should bring along their lawn chairs to sit, enjoy the entertainment and take part in the ice cream social.
