ATLANTA (AP) — Clayton Kershaw turned in a masterful pitching performance in hurling the L.A. Dodgers to a 6-1 win over Atlanta in the opener of that NL division series. Kershaw dominated the Braves for seven innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out 12, and Adrian Gonzalez delivered a two-run home run.

ST. LOUIS (AP)— The St. Louis Cardinals enjoyed a 9-1 laugher in taking the opener from Pittsburgh in the NL division Series. Adam Wainwright, a 19-game winner in the regular season, pitched seven innings of three-hit ball, striking out nine while Carlos Beltran sparked a seven-run third inning with a three-run homer.

UNDATED (AP) — Two AL division series finally get under way today with the Boston Red Sox sending out Jon Lester against wild card winner Tampa Bay and the Rays’ ace Matt Moore Friday at Fenway Park. The night game has the Oakland Athletics hosting Detroit and Tigers 21-game winner Max Scherzer.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Quarterback Brandon Weeden replaced injured starter Brian Hoyer and rallied the Cleveland Browns to a 37-24 win over the Buffalo Bills, who also lost starting rookie quarterback EJ Manuel with a knee injury. Weeden threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Josh Gordon in the third quarter as the Browns won their third straight and are 3-2 for the first time since 2001.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) —The winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers are making a permanent change at quarterback. They cut five-year signal-caller Josh Freeman after failing to make a trade, and are going with rookie Mike Glennon instead heading into this Sunday’s game at St. Louis.
