NEW YORK (AP) — Two people with knowledge of the plans say the 2015 NBA All-Star weekend will be split between two New York arenas, with Madison Square Garden to host the game. Barclays Center in Brooklyn will host the Saturday skills events, the people confirmed to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the plans were to be announced at a news conference today. The league has been working with the Knicks and Nets for months on the plan to split the events.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say Detroit Lions receiver Nate Burleson broke his arm in a single-car accident early yesterday after he reached over to keep two pizza boxes from falling off the front passenger seat. Burleson’s car hit a center median wall on a highway in suburban Detroit and he was taken to a hospital. Coach Jim Schwartz stopped short of writing off the rest of Burleson’s season, but surgery is scheduled for today.

BALTIMORE (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles say third baseman Manny Machado could be running again in six to eight weeks after tearing a left knee ligament in Monday’s 5-4 loss to Tampa Bay. The Orioles initially feared Machado had torn his ACL, which would have caused him to miss the start of next season. But an MRI showed his ACL and MCL are fine.

UNDATED (AP) — The NHL has handed down more punishment stemming from a brawl during Sunday’s Buffalo Sabres game against the Maple Leafs in Toronto. Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel was suspended for the team’s last three preseason games, and Sabres coach Ron Rolston was fined an undisclosed amount for his role in the brawl. The league on Monday suspended Toronto forward David Clarkson for the first 10 regular-season games for leaving the bench to join the fight.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Skipper Jimmy Spithill and defending champion Oracle Team USA sped past Emirates Team New Zealand on the upwind third leg to win their astonishing seventh straight race and force a deciding 19th race in the longest America’s Cup ever. Race 19 is scheduled for today, weather-permitting. An Oracle win will finish one of the greatest comebacks in sports history.
