NEW YORK (AP) — Broncos linebacker Von Miller was caught trying to manipulate the NFL’s drug-testing system, which led to a six-game suspension that could have been longer. A person familiar with the case told The Associated Press on Sunday that Denver’s All-Pro linebacker tried to avoid a positive test under the league’s substance-abuse policy. The manipulation attempt was first reported by ESPN.

UNDATED (AP) — The Oakland Athletics, Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals are the latest major league teams to earn playoff berths. The A’s captured their second straight AL West championship when Texas lost 4-0 at Kansas City. The Braves won the NL East and the Redbirds nailed down a playoff berth when Washington lost 4-2 to Miami in Game 1 of a doubleheader.

ATLANTA (AP) — Henrik Stenson has won the FedEx Cup and its $10 million bonus by capturing the Tour Championship by three shots over Jordan Spieth (speeth) and Steve Stricker. Stenson closed with a 2-under 68 for a 13-under total to become the first European to win the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup.

LOUDON, N.H. (AP) — Matt Kenseth has opened NASCAR’s Chase for the championship with back-to-back victories. He and teammate Kyle Busch finished 1-2 for the second straight week, this time at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Kenseth leads the points race by 14 over Busch, 18 over Jimmie Johnson and 36 over Carl Edwards.
