Farm Bureau Presents Awards

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Farm Bureau 2013 Member Appreciation Picnic was held Tuesday in Boone at the McHose Park Shelter House.  As always, a portion of the program is held to present Boone County Farm Bureau Scholarships and to recognize and present cash awards to the Soil and Water Conservation District Poster Contest winners.

$750 Farm Bureau Scholarships were awarded to Andrew Primmer of Ames, Kaitlin Schieltz of Madrid and Savannah Bice of Woodard.  Scholarships of $500 and $250 were presented to Kelsey Schieltz of Madrid.

Cash awards were presented to two of the five winners in the 2013 Soil and Water Conservation Poster Contest.  Kevin Griggs, Chair of the Boone County Soil and Water Conservation District said three of winners from one family recently moved away, Carolyn Frank, 1st in the 4th-6th grade division and Chelsey Frank, 1st and Dominick Frank, 2nd in the 7th-9th grade division.  The prizes also included Regional awards.  All three are home schooled.

On hand to receive their awards were ShyAnne Brogden who finished 2nd in the 4th-6th grade division and Rowan Pinkerton who finished 3rd in the 4th-6th grade division.  Both are students at Sacred Heart in Boone.  The theme this year is “Where does your Watershed?”
