Voters Support Public Measures

BOONE, Iowa—Voters in the Boone and Madrid School Districts supported Public Measures proposed by their respective school boards.  Voters in all four school districts handled by the Boone County Auditor’s Office supported continuing the levies for Des Moines Area Community College.

The Boone School Board proposed a PERL Levy, a Public Education and Recreational Levy that is expected to raise just over $60,000 a year for use on things like play ground equipment, athletic facilities and so on.  The levy questions received 497 yes votes and 215 no votes.

The Madrid School Board proposed a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy of $1.00 per thousand dollars of valuation.  Madrid voters easily approved the levy 252 yes votes to 107 no votes.

The Des Moines Area Community College levies both gained support in Boone County.  The Equipment Levy questions was approved with 908 yes votes to 288 no votes.  The Plant Levy question received 876 yes votes to 322 no votes.  All four easily supported the levies which go before voters every ten years.
