Historical Society Fun Run Planned For the 24th

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Historical Society is planning a new fund raising event, a 5K History Run/Walk followed by a Summer Fest.  Pam Schwartz, Historical Society Executive Director says registrations for the History Run/Walk are being taken online at or through the Historical Society’s website,  Schwartz says the route will be along selected city streets.  Runners are invited to compete in historic costume.  Everything will begin and finish at the Boone County Historical Center.  The late afternoon run/walk will be followed a Summer Fest that will also be held by the Historical Center.  There is an admission charge for that event, for those choosing not to take part in the run/walk.  Troy’s Runnin’ BBQ, Boone Valley Brewery and music by the Bill Martin Group will be part of the event.  Schwartz says they wanted to the Summer Fest to more than just for runners, but for the whole family and all friends.  The History Run/Walk registration is $40 which includes a meal ticket for Summer Fest.  Admission to the meal at Summer Fest is $10 for those that pass on the run/walk.  Schwartz says the Historical Society hopes to make this a regular fund raising event.
