Boone County Receives Much Needed Rain

Posted on 12 August 2013 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—A Sunday night thunderstorm, tracking across Boone County dropped over 2 and a quarter inches at the Boone City Water Environment Station at McHose Park in about 2-hours.  Some unofficial amounts in Boone ran as high as 3-inches on the east side of the city.  The rain fall was more than the amount received during the entire month of July by more than double.  July ended up with just over an inch of rain with the most recorded .61 in late July.  That storm also resulted in storm related damages, especially at the Central Iowa Expo site east of Boone where power lines and buildings were knocked down and hail caused damage to crops.  In fact, hail damage in Boone is still being repaired.  The Sunday night storm did not have any associated reports of hail or wind damage.
