Fundraising Can Drop off Relocated

Posted on 31 July 2013 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Boone Mayor John Slight has pushed the collection of cans and plastic bottles as a way to support the city’s 4th of July fireworks display.  We know this year, the effort came up a little short.  For some time, the drop off has been located behind the Boone Police Department, but not any more.  There will be a designated location at the Can Depot, located at 927 10th Street.  Residents wishing to support the fireworks fund raiser are invited to bring their cans and bottles to the Can Depot and drop in the designated area.  All the proceeds will then go to the 4th of July fireworks display.  Officials say the new location will be more efficient.  Public Works Director John Rouse has picked up cans and bottles from behind the Police Department since the fund raising effort began.  However, many times the bags of cans end up in his office at City Hall.  Being located on site is expected to a much better situation.
