BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Republican Party is looking for a pretty good turnout for their first time “Eisenhower Grand Ol’ Picnic” to be held Friday evening at the McHose Park Shelter House and the weather looks like it will cooperate.  The picnic will begin at 6:00 PM and requires a ticket.  Boone County Republican Party Chairman is Gary Nystrom and he has said they expect Governor Terry Branstad, Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey, Secretary of State Matt Schultz and newly appointed State Auditor Mary Mosiman.  Congressman Steve King is expected to join the gathering and several of the announced candidates for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate race have confirmed they will attend.  Locally, Senator Jerry Behn and Representatives Chip Baltimore and Rob Bacon are expected.

Nystrom says there are no plans for any speeches, but they do hope everyone will have an opportunity to visit.  Tickets for the event have been available at L&M Gas and Grocery and Pritchard Brothers.
