GULLANE, Scotland (AP) — It figures to be a wide-open British Open at Muirfield, which is hosting its 16th Open championship. NEW YORK (AP) — New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is eying a return to major league action as soon as next Monday. A-Rod is going to join Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday, likely the final stop in his rehabilitation from left hip surgery last January.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Lakers are bringing back a familiar face, free agent guard Jordan Farmar, who returns to the team that drafted him in 2006.
