ATLANTA (AP)-Donovan Solano (soh-LAH’-noh) delivered a pinch-hit, go-ahead single off Braves closer Craig Kimbrel in the ninth inning and the Miami Marlins beat Atlanta 4-3 to take two of three in the series. Miami has won eight of its last 10 overall.

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Major league loss leader Cole Hamels pitched seven strong innings and the Philadelphia Phillies beat Gerrit Cole and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Hamels improved to 3-11 as the former World Series MVP won for the first time since June 5.

NEW YORK (AP) – Cliff Pennington hit an RBI single with two outs in the 15th inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks outlasted the New York Mets 5-4 to split a four-game series at Citi Field. Arizona scored in the final three innings but couldn’t close out the feisty Mets until Brad Ziegler retired Kirk Nieuwenhuis (NOO’-ihn-hys) on an easy grounder with two runners on to end a game that lasted 5 hours, 46 minutes.

UNDATED (AP)- New Orleans, Portland and Sacramento have agreed to a three-team trade sending guard Tyreke (TY’-reek) Evans to the Pelicans, center Robin Lopez to the Trail Blazers and guard Greivis (GREE’-vihs) Vasquez to the Kings. People familiar with the deal spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because NBA rules prevent confirmation of trades until July 10.

UNDATED (AP)- In hockey moves, Danny Briere (bree-HAYR’) is heading home to his native Quebec to play for the Montreal Canadiens, Patrick Elias (EHL’-ee-ahsh) is staying in New Jersey and the Boston Bruins and Dallas Stars completed a blockbuster trade a day before the start of the NHL’s free agency period. In exchanging seven players, the rebuilding Stars acquired forwards Tyler Seguin (SAY’-gihn) and Rich Peverley in exchange for veteran forward Loui (LOO’-ee) Eriksson.
