FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) – Former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is being held without bond after being arrested yesterday morning and charged with murder in the shooting death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd. Prosecutors say Lloyd had angered Hernandez at a nightclub a few days earlier by talking to the wrong people. The Patriots released Hernandez following his arrest.

PASSAIC, N.J. (AP) – The Cleveland Browns have released a rookie who is charged with attempted murder for allegedly punching a man outside a club in northern New Jersey. Ausar Walcott turned himself in to Passaic, N.J., police Tuesday after he was identified as a suspect in an incident that happened around 3 a.m. Sunday. The linebacker was signed by the Browns on May 13 following a tryout.

LONDON (AP) – Wimbledon continues after seven-time men’s champion Roger Federer and 2004 women’s champ Maria Sharapova were ousted in the second round yesterday. Women’s second seed Victoria Azarenka withdrew before her second-round match after being injured on Monday. No. 1 seeds Novak Djokovic (JOH’-koh-vihch) and Serena Williams play their second-round matches today.

UNDATED (AP) – The Los Angeles Clippers have formally introduced Doc Rivers as their new head coach after sending a first-round pick to the Celtics for him. Rivers says he’s eager to guide a team loaded with stars Blake Griffin and Chris Paul, who is expected to stay with the Clippers despite being a free agent. Meanwhile, Larry Bird is returning to the Indiana Pacers as president of basketball operations.

UNDATED (AP) – The NCAA’s Division I Committee on Infractions has released a report stating that former Oregon football coach Chip Kelly failed to monitor the program for its improper involvement with a Houston-based recruiting service. The program has been stripped of one scholarship in each of the next two seasons and placed on probation for three years, but the Ducks avoided a bowl ban. The NCAA also issued an 18-month show-cause order against Kelly, who’s now head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.
