BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Sheriff Gregg Elsberry and Chief Deputy Rick Lampe have presented a program to the Boone County Supervisors that would allow the department to catch up with vehicle replacements. Elsberry says patrol vehicles have not been rotated out on a regular basis and now they are trying to catch up. The department has eleven personnel with vehicles and a twelfth that’s used for transports. The proposal to the Supervisors calls for trading in six of the highest mileage cars and leasing five new vehicles on a lease to own agreement. The Board has not taken action on the proposal but does want time to look into the program. The Board could consider the matter again next week.
