Habitat Brings Helping Hands To Boone County

Posted on 20 June 2013 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Habitat for Humanity of Boone and Greene Counties will expand their “Helping Hands” program into Boone County.  “Helping Hands” is a program that’s been used quite a bit in Greene County and has proven to be very successful.  In Boone County, volunteers would build a home while Greene County volunteers would use the same amount of dollars to fix up more than one residence.  The first Boone County “Helping Hands” project will be a home owned by Viola Williams.  Habitat will purchase the materials for remodeling, but Williams will repay Habitat over time through a zero-interest loan.  The homeowner, their family and friends are encouraged to provide sweat equity.  Other “Helping Hands” projects are expected in Ogden, Madrid and Boone later this summer.
