BOONE, Iowa—Postal carriers from the Boone Post office did well last Saturday with the annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food collection. Carriers were able to bring nearly 4,300 pounds of non-perishable food items to local food pantries. The spring time food collection is beneficial because it’s the time of the year when students are done with school for the summer and the need for assistance increases. Food donations are usually good during the holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas, but tend to slack off during the spring. The “Stamp Out Hunger” food collection event is held nationwide the second Saturday in May.
