BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Area Humane Society Board of Directors has selected their new shelter manager. Board members Gretchen Stark and Kio Dettman were on the KWBG News Public Affairs Program “Tuned In” Thursday and reported that the board had offered and Dr. Kim Houlding had accepted to position as shelter manager. Houlding is a practicing veterinarian but has recently closed her Madrid practice. She is still associated with a practice in Ames. Houlding is also a former BAHS Board member. Stark said during the program that Houlding brings a familiar background to the position. Stark also announced that Pat Ames, a former board member and long time volunteer was offered the position of assistant shelter manager and did accept the offer. Both Houlding and Ames are completing orientation and will be taking over their positions the first of June. Rhonda Maas will continue as Lead Animal Control Officer.
