Still No Naturalist Sharing Agreement

Posted on 14 May 2013 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Conservation Commission has rejected a draft agreement with the Boone County Landfill for sharing the services of Boone County Natuarlist Emily Klein.  This week, the Conservation Commission reviewed the agreement during their regular meeting and many members felt it was comparable to the structure in place 6 years ago, a structure that Commission members repeatedly said did not work and led to each department hiring their own person.  Conservation Commission members told Director Andy Hockenson that they would like to see something that allows Klein to handle her conservation commission duties, but is available to help with Boone County Landfill, Recycling Center and Keep Boone County Beautiful needs when her schedule permits.  There are times with the services overlap such as the recent Outdoor Classroom programs.  It is expected that the discussions between the Conservation Commission and the Landfill will continue.
